Scaling Up - Electronic Ordering in Barbados Amidst COVID19

After 2 years running a niche grocery delivery business, I was admittedly worried when this plan for mass online and telephone ordering was conceived. A few days in and the system has all but ground to a halt. No surprise here.

One of the biggest issues businesses have is scaling up. Have you ever had a favourite small lunch spot, and as they got popular and expanded the food went to crap? Scale!!

In times of crisis, we need to be careful that our desire for speedy solutions don't work against us and compromise the entire effort. Also, in a quest to seize the business opportunity, be careful not to frustrate your clients and burn through your capital needlessly. If we aren't doing anything novel, we should observe and seek advice from those who have already walked the journey, learning from their successes and more importantly their failures.

I eagerly await the next phase in this COVID19 crisis as with adversity often comes innovation and true opportunity.
